I had been to a lot of traditional weddings near my hometown, and I wanted something more casual, fun, and memorable.
What made you decide on the destination/resort/venue?
I picked Mexico because I never made it there for spring breaks and I like the food. Hannah suggested a bunch of great resorts, and I chose Dreams Riviera Cancun because it was more secluded and had trees versus being amongst all the big hotels on the beach in Cancun.
What was the biggest difficulty in planning your destination wedding?
Not being able to picture what things would really look like and how everything would come together.
What was the highlight of the experience and what was the biggest surprise?
The highlight of the experience and the biggest surprise was the wedding went perfectly with no practice before and the cocktail hour and dinner were amazing. Probably the most stress free wedding I could have asked for.
How well were the resort and your Onsite Wedding Coordinator to work with?
Although the wedding coordinators were all very busy with multiple weddings a day, they were able to plan everything essentially in one meeting once we arrived at the resort. My wedding coordinator added lots of small details I hadn’t thought of and made everything look wonderful.
If your best friend were planning a destination wedding what would your advice be to her?
Go for it. It was amazing and stress free, you get great pictures, and everyone has a fun time.
Was there anything that you would change looking back?
I would put more planning into the date so that more people could attend if they wanted to.
